Creamy pink pasta is a dish that blends elements of Italian and American cuisine and is enjoyed in various parts of the world, particularly where Italian cuisine is popular. It has become a favorite in homes and restaurants alike due to its creamy texture, vibrant color, and flavorful sauce.

Boiling pasta

  • 1½ litres water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 2 cups penne pasta

White pasta sauce

  • 1 tsp butter
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1½ cups chilled milk
  • ¼ tsp mixed herbs
  • ¼ tsp chilli flakes
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp grated cheese

Red pasta sauce

  • 3 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp mixed herbs
  • ½ tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1½ cups tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Other ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp grated cheese
  • ¼ tsp chilli flakes
  • ¼ tsp mixed herbs


Boiling the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  • Add 1 tsp salt and 2 tsp olive oil to the boiling water.
  • Stir in 2 cups of penne pasta and cook for about 9 minutes until al dente.
  • Drain the pasta and set aside.

Making White Pasta Sauce

  • In a pan, heat 1 tsp butter and 2 tsp olive oil.
  • Add 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida) and roast until aromatic.
  • Gradually pour in 1½ cups of chilled milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  • Once the sauce thickens slightly, add ¼ tsp mixed herbs, ¼ tsp chilli flakes, ¼ tsp salt, and 3 tbsp grated cheese.
  • Stir well until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Avoid overcooking to prevent thickening.

Making Red Pasta Sauce

  • Heat 3 tsp olive oil and 1 tsp butter in a large wok.
  • Add 3 cloves of finely chopped garlic, ½ tsp mixed herbs, and ½ tsp chilli flakes. Sauté until fragrant.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until translucent.
  • Pour in 1½ cups tomato puree and cook until slightly thickened.
  • Stir in 2 tbsp tomato sauce, ½ tsp chilli powder, and ½ tsp salt. Cook until the sauce thickens.

Making Pink Sauce for Pasta

  • Combine the prepared white sauce with the red sauce in a pan. Adjust the amount of white sauce to achieve the desired creaminess.
  • The mixture will turn into a pink sauce.

Assembling the Pasta

  • Add the boiled pasta to the pink sauce and mix well.
  • Sprinkle 3 tbsp grated cheese, ¼ tsp chilli flakes, and ¼ tsp mixed herbs. Stir to combine.
  • Serve the creamy pink pasta hot, garnished with more cheese if desired.
